Five Simple Steps from Inquiry to Enrollment
1. Schedule a Visit
Come see for yourself why Mirowitz offers children the very best start to life. Submit an inquiry, and contact Patty Bloom, Director of Admissions, 314-576-6177 or email@example.com. Also, consider attending one of the following events:
- Sneak a Peek: Participate in experiential learning about how Mirowitz students grow to be tenacious learners and ethical leaders (November 7, 2018).
- MLK Social Action Day (January 21, 2019): Bring your children for a morning of social action, song, and a chance to get a little messy, too.
2. Complete an Application
Kindergarten students are required to be five years old by July 31 of the year they enter.
A completed application includes:
- Application for admission
- Consent for release of records
- Copy of applicant’s birth certificate
- A recent photo of the applicant
- Student screening/student visit
- A non-refundable fee of $100 which includes the cost for admissions screening and processing
3. Apply for Financial Aid (if desired)
We are committed to making our school available to a diverse community of parents and children, and offer need-based tuition assistance to families showing a demonstrated need.
To assist in making objective decisions about tuition assistance, Mirowitz uses the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) to assess a family’s ability to pay. A recommendation from SSS is reviewed by the tuition assistance committee, which consists of individuals who are not currently parents at the school. The committee recognizes that the SSS report may not accurately portray the whole picture of a family’s financial situation and welcomes a letter that may clarify family finances. Tuition assistance is awarded on an annual basis and is based on available dollars. In keeping with our core values, all information received and discussed by the committee is kept strictly confidential.
Complete and submit a financial statement form online at sss.nais.org. The Mirowitz School code is 2272. We must receive a report from SSS by January 31. Allow at least 3 weeks for processing. You also will be required to submit a copy of your recent tax return. Applications for assistance received after January 31 will not be included in the initial tuition assistance distribution, and will be considered only if additional dollars are available.
Decisions regarding a child’s qualifications for admission or re-enrollment are in no way connected to decisions regarding tuition assistance.
4. Schedule a Student Screening
Students entering kindergarten participate in a “playdate” screening in the kindergarten classroom which gives the school and prospective students an opportunity to begin to know one another. While children visit the classroom, parents are invited to meet informally with administrators, teachers and current parents. Late applicants who miss the scheduled group visits will have an evaluation with our learning specialist. Students entering grade 1 may participate in a group visit with other applicants or may be scheduled for an individual visit.
Students entering grades 2-8 are required to spend a day in a classroom. During their visit, prospective students participate in all classroom activities.
5. Admission Decision
Upon completion of all steps in the application process, the admission committee meets to determine the admission decision for each applicant. Families who have completed the admission process will be notified of the admission decision by March 15. A signed enrollment form and non-refundable tuition deposit must be returned within two weeks of acceptance to reserve a space in the class.
