אחריות חברתית
social responsibility
At Mirowitz, students grapple daily with their ability to better the world.
Their history lessons are an opportunity to shape the future. Science lessons call on them to safeguard the earth’s ecosystems. Even their analysis of popular fiction includes discussion about choosing to uphold goodness and fight hatred.
Students consistently translate those lessons into action. The proof is in the passion-filled meetings of the student-driven social action clubs…relationships built when students visit older adults or refugees…and the way students willingly forfeit Hanukkah and birthday gifts to help others.
Tikkun olam (repair of the world) is part of our daily vocabulary. Students understand their obligation as citizens of the world, and know from experience that social action is easy, it’s possible and it’s Jewish.
