I often find myself singing our school song in my head: “This is our Kehillah, our community…” Building our Mirowitz Kehillah is my job and has become my passion.
After October 7th, while I was caring for a newborn, a toddler, a partner, and myself, I realized our Mirowitz Community’s mighty strength. Being around YOU made the post-October 7th life a little more bearable. A year has passed, and I still feel your embrace and support.
This past summer, my mom visited from Israel. For her, living so far from us is a daily challenge.
She spent a lot of time dropping subtle (and not so subtle) hints about all the reasons why we should move back to the kibbutz (yes, even during these times). Only after she got to experience Mirowitz did she come to me and say, ” Hevanti, I understand.”
Belonging and feeling welcomed is my hope for all of you. Together, as one community, I know we are strong.
Finding our shared connections while celebrating what makes us different is something we are especially good at. In the classroom, but also in a broader sense. Our community welcomes families from all walks of life.
Slowly but surely, I am calling each family and learning more about you and your children. During one conversation over the summer, I discovered there was interest in meeting other Mirowitz families that identify as interfaith or Jewish Adjacent.
And so, a beautiful partnership with the JCRC and Jewish Federation began. I would like to introduce our “Shared Connections – A Place for Interfaith and Jewish Adjacent Families” program to you.
For families who are part of our community and have this shared connection, I hope you will join us to get to know other Mirowitz families similar to yours.
My door is always open to you, and I hope to get the opportunity to get to know you better this year.
