It is a Tree of Life…

November 6, 2018

Doing something, anything, helps us grapple with sadness, disappointment, angst and even anger. Mirowitz students know that, and so today I am sharing my “blog” space with Genevieve, a thoughtful Mirowitz 8th grader. She and her classmates have an idea about how to stand strong in the wake of the tragedy in Pittsburgh.

Dear Mirowitz Parents,

My classmates and I would like to invite you to participate with us in a peaceful demonstration Nov. 2 and 3 in memory of the lives lost at the Tree of Life Synagogue. This demonstration is called Solidarity Shabbat, which is unique in that there will be no marches nor rallies. Instead the goal is to flood synagogues around the world this weekend to support each other and those in need of healing from the incident.

Please take action and support this action if you can! Attend your local synagogue and invite others to join you.

Thank you for being part of our community at a time when we truly need each other! We hope to see you at synagogue tonight and tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Genevieve L,
Mirowitz 8th grader

Mirowitz Middle School

These photos were taken of our middle school’s Tree of Life, or Eitz Chayim, a memorial to those who lost their lives in Pittsburgh. It is filled with prayers and messages of

condolence to the members of Eitz Chayim and their community. May we stand strong together, show our pride and not be intimidated.
