The Moments That Matter at Mirowitz

September 8, 2025

Dear Mirowitz Community,

Each week brings moments that remind me why Mirowitz is such a special place for children to grow, learn, and be seen. Sometimes those moments are big — overnight trips, field days, celebrations. Sometimes they are quieter but no less powerful. The first view is a glimpse into Morah Alex’s classroom, who has been doing a deep dive into September.

A Snapshot from Morah Alex’s Classroom

This week I stepped into Morah Alex Hoffman’s 6th–8th grade writing class. The lights were low, and the room carried that quiet hum of concentration — students writing and drafting in notebooks, tapping on keyboards, or staring off in thought as they worked to get their ideas onto the page.

Alex moved gracefully among them, crouching at one desk, leaning in at another, always meeting her students at eye level. She wasn’t correcting. She was encouraging. A whisper here, a smile there, a gentle reminder to “just keep going.” One student was frozen in front of the page, and Alex knelt beside her with patience and presence until the words began to flow again.

What struck me most was the trust in the room. Students trusted Alex to guide them, and they trusted themselves enough to take the risk of writing. That kind of courage — to try, to stumble, to find your voice — is at the heart of the Mirowitz experience.

Life At Mirowitz

Our Middle School overnight just concluded, with students building friendships and community beyond the classroom. What a terrific time they had! We are all happy that our students love spending significant and valuable time together.  See more about their trip below!

Yesterday our 2nd graders loved their field trip (see more about their field trip below) while the 4th graders will head out for their overnight later this month.

As we move through these busy September days and into the High Holidays, I am reminded that what happens inside our classrooms — the trust, the encouragement, the space to grow — is what truly sets Mirowitz apart.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children. It is an honor to walk alongside them on this journey. With gratitude and…

L’Shalom,

Brian
