HOW KINGS, QUEENS AND SUPERHEROES (AND OTHER COSTUMED KIDS) MAKE BIG A DIFFERENCE!
Kids love Purim! Can you blame them? They get to dress in costume, make loud noises and eat hamantaschen. They parade…they sing…they get their faces painted. And to top off all that revelry, they get to feel the joyful satisfaction of making a difference!
At Mirowitz our kids understand that Purim celebrates the courage of a heroic Jewish woman and her royal husband who saved the Jews of Persia. They also know that giving to the poor is as much a part of the holiday as booing Haman’s name, feasting and merriment.
This week, your children performed all of the mitzvot of Purim. They listened to a reading of the Megillah (presented in song, skit and multi-media by the middle schoolers, and then chanted by Cantor Seth Warner). They delivered Mishloach Manot(gifts) to community leaders who work to make our school a better place and to each other. They donated toiletries kits for underprivileged families and helped Levi with his bar mitzvah project (packing up 200 bags of soup mix for the Jewish Food Pantry).
Children grow smarter at Mirowitz, it’s true. But they also grow kinder and more socially responsible. They know that they are not too young to make a difference. They surely made a difference this week.
